The upgrade will be a free download for those who already own the game and will retail for $39.99 for those who haven’t yet picked it up.
The official reveal trailer above shows all of the console enhancements in action, which include 4K 60fps performance on PS5 and Xbox Series X and refined in-game assets. Mortal Shell will run at 4K 30fps on Xbox Series S, according to the developer.
Alongside these enhancements, Mortal Shell on PS5 will, unsurprisingly, take advantage of the DualSense’s haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and built-in speaker to add new nuance and fully flesh out the experience.
Alongside this new update, Cold Symmetry has revealed that it is working on a special limited edition of the Soulslike, a Deluxe Edition, that features a massive “140-page artbook showcasing never-before-seen art and illustrations created during the game’s development, as well as an exclusive reversible cover and art postcards.”
This physical version will retail for the same $39.99 as the Enhanced Edition.
Mortal Shell was one of our favorite games of 2020. We praised it for its “strong combat and enjoyable boss fights, elegant and streamlined progression system, and mysterious world that begs for expansion.”
